This is one of my favourite pieces of wisdom and one which I aspire to live by.

Extract from The Abundance of Life by Daisaku Ikeda – 1974

Today I promise to be so strong that nothing can upset my peace of mind

To talk health, happiness and hope to every person I meet

To make my friends feel that there is something good and beautiful in them

To look at the sunny side of everything and be optimistic about life

To think only the best, work towards doing it and accepting only the best

To be just as happy about the success of others as I am about my own success

To forget any mistakes of the past and press forward to greater achievements in the future

To give so much time to improving myself that I will have no time to criticise others

To be too strong for fear, too kind for anger and to happy for worry

Life is a struggle for the self employed

When Life chucks you a curved ball, you’d better have the courage to throw it right back at ’em.  After a successful live event management career, brought to an end by unsuccessful fertility treatment and bad health, I began writing.  My book was published in 2007 “Making Babies the Hard Way” and I began to write about health and well-being in newspapers and magazines.

I moved out of non-fiction, into fiction and creative writing and found a “home” and creative encouragement with Faber Academy.  This too ended due to end stage arthritis, multiple ankle surgeries and fibromyalgia.  I still can’t focus enough, due to the pain and subsequent exhaustion, to continue my novel…. BUT…. I discovered that my pain was eased by working in arts and crafts with glass and precious metals.  So, here we are again, beginning again.

Someday, I know that all my creativity and skills will converge to make a whole and perhaps a new business.  Until that day, I want to encourage others to keep going, overcome their obstacles by joining our creative community of fighters!
